Tadka Aloo

(Tempered Potatoes)



Serves 1

Time taken: 10 minutes


Ingredients to make Tadka Aloo


2 boiled potatoes, roughly chopped

2 tsp ghee

½ tsp cumin seeds / jeera

6 - 8 curry leaves

1 green chilli, finely chopped (or to taste)

½ inch piece of ginger, grated

Salt to taste

½ cup roasted salted peanuts, coarsely ground


Method of making Tadka Aloo


Heat ghee  in a pan on medium flame, add cumin seeds and curry leaves. Once these splutter, add ginger and green chillies. Allow the aromatics to release flavour, add chopped potatoes and salt to taste, mix well. Add coarsely ground peanuts and give it a good mix.


Serve tadka aloo hot with plain yoghurt, cucumber raita with tadka, kuttu atta roti, lauki ka thalipeeth…
