Chilli Cheese Toast

This recipe could well be labelled as one of “my favourite foods”, besides of course many many other recipes!

It is as easily and quickly polished off the plate as it is to make, in no time!


For a variation, and to use extra buns, I used the same ingredients / recipe to make Chilli Cheese Buns.


Time taken: 20 – 25 minutes


Ingredients to make Chilli Cheese Toast

(for 5 bread slices)


5 bread slices

Butter - enough to generously coat bread slices

1 garlic clove - finely chopped

One green chilli - finely chopped (or to taste)

Half a medium-sized onion – sliced / small chop

Half a bell pepper / capsicum – sliced / small chop

Half cup Mozzarella cheese - grated

Half cup Cheddar - grated


Method of making Chilli Cheese Toast


Preheat oven to 185° C for 5 minutes on 'toast' setting.

If using a microwave, preheat to 165° C on convection mode.


Meanwhile, butter the bread slices and place on a baking tray. Top with garlic, chillies, onion, bell peppers / capsicum and cheese.




Toast in the preheated oven at 185°C on 'toast' setting for 8 - 10 minutes or at 165°C in a microwave on convection mode for 10 - 12 minutes - until the cheese is bubbling and lightly brown.
